What size ladder do I need for a Sri Lankan house?
For a standard Sri Lankan home with 9–10 foot ceilings, a 3- or 4-step household aluminium ladder handles most daily tasks such as changing ceiling fans and light bulbs. For painting interior walls, a 5ft or 6ft step ladder is better. For exterior access to gutters or a two-storey house, a 10ft to 20ft extension ladder is the appropriate choice.

What is the difference between a heavy duty ladder and a regular aluminium ladder?
Heavy duty aluminium ladders at JTC.lk use thicker-gauge aluminium profiles and have extra brazing — reinforced welded joints — at every rung-to-rail connection. This makes them significantly stronger and more rigid under load, less prone to flex at height, and built to last through years of daily professional use compared to standard-grade models.

Which ladder is best for coconut harvesting in Sri Lanka?
For standard-height coconut palms (20–25 feet), the 20-foot aluminium extension ladder (10×2 rungs) is the most commonly used model. For taller palms, a 24ft or 30ft model is recommended. The 3mm heavy wall models are strongly preferred for coconut harvesting because they are more rigid when leaning against a flexible tree trunk on uneven ground.

Can I use an aluminium ladder near electrical wires?
No. Aluminium is an electrical conductor and aluminium ladders must never be used near live electrical cables, switchboards or overhead power lines. For electrical work, a fibreglass-insulated ladder is the correct and safe choice. Contact JTC if you have a specific electrical safety requirement.

What is a multi-purpose ladder and when is it worth buying?
A multi-purpose ladder uses hinged joints that lock at different angles to convert between step ladder, extension ladder, scaffold platform and staircase configurations. It is worth buying for painters, handymen and renovation contractors who regularly need more than one type of ladder. JTC stocks 12ft, 16ft and 20ft models. For occasional home use, a dedicated step ladder at a lower price is usually more practical.
